I had a complimentary consultation with Attorney John Ferrell regarding the creation of a revocable trust and a charitable trust. Before our meeting, I sent him detailed draft documents outlining what I wanted included in both trusts. However, when the consultation began, he immediately stated that he would not even review the documents I had prepared.

Despite claiming his firm has extensive experience with all types of trusts, including custom trusts, he repeatedly questioned my requests. When I explained that my charitable trust was in honor of my late son and focused on mental health and wellness, and that my revocable trust outlined my care in case I became incapacitated (as I have no family to rely on), he abruptly stated that he was not a good fit for me.

If he truly has experience with custom trusts, I fail to see why my requests were an issue. His dismissive attitude made it clear he had no real interest in assisting me. Based on my experience, I would not recommend this attorney.

My wife and I were in search of a trust attorney. We asked our financial advisor and they recommend John Farrell w. The Farrell Law Firm located in Marietta, GA. We met with John and he explained they have a few options. He explained the difference between a will and a trust and he can do either one depending on your needs. We decided to go with a trust which is a little more expensive but it would a much easier transition when the time comes. We set a date to do the signing. Prior to meeting he sent us copies to review and make corrections as needed. On our second meeting a few weeks later we signed the forms and now we have everything in one very nice 3-ring binder. We highly recommend his firm.

The best thing is once everything is signed, you receive a notebook with wills, power of attorney, health care directive plus places for things like where important documents can be found, life insurance information, a place to put special requests for how you want personal property distributed (i.e. you want your granddaughter to have your engagement ring) and memorial wishes. It is a complete compilation of "What to do after I die" so your loved ones are not scrambling to settle your estate. Making that process as easy as possible is the best last gift you can give them.
